Top 5 Tips To Write Awesome and Attractive Content

Tips To Improve Your Writing Skills
Recently I have been part of a tweet discussion on the topic of an effective content writing. Today in this blog will share the tips for writing attractive content based on the discussion, experts' point of view and my own experience.

The online marketing industry has changed drastically in a past decade. A quality content has become a most vital aspect of any marketing strategy. The way of crafting the content has changed.

A good piece of content is the one which is original and grammatically correct. It should have good use of voice so the targeted users can easily understand it. To make it more effective, usage of visuals can be an icing on the cake. Last but not the least, in this social era, the content should be easily sharable on social networks.

Be Original and Unique
The most important thing is to have an original idea. If you will write a content by spinning an article or by taking a topic then it won't attract much visitors. You have to come up with your own idea. The best way to get the topic is to be part of good Blogs, communities and social media. You can get topics from the discussions and comments of the people. You can find what people are interested in and write on what your targeted audience is looking for.

Write a Title Which Grab An Attention
Typically, a Title is 60-120 characters long first impression on your readers. If the title is not so appealing, people might not bother to visit or read your article. A few tips to write a standout article title are listed below:

  • Article gist must be clearly conveyed.
  • Make it exciting, for instance, use "Start Raving Made"  instead of "Crazy".
  • Arouse Curiosity.
  • Try to fit the keywords, but don't stuff it.

Maintain Quality With Easy To Understand Language
Usage of good English is one of the important factors for the quality writing, but never ever use the jargons. You might have a very good English vocab, but your article is not the place to show off your vocab. Make the language easy to understand for third person.

Promote Hard
No matter how good content you have written, if it can't go to your targeted users' sight then it's of no use. Share your contents and try to promote it as much as possible. You can also reshare the same content. Make sure you are not feeding the timelines of your connection at extent that they find it irritating and spammy.

Get Feedback
This is one of the most important, but overlooked aspect of writing a good content. The key factor of improvement is to get genuine feedback and work on it. Get feedback from your field's influenecer, readers, friends, colleagues, or third party people. This feedback will help you to write more user friendly and awesome content.

Hope this article helps in one way or another.

Why Online Marketing Is The Best Marketing Channel?

Recently I had a conversation with an online marketer which inspired me to write this Blog. The online marketer is practicing inbound marketing, but amazingly he was more in favor of offline marketing. This can be the case of many similar marketers who are still confused and don't understand the worth and power of the online marketing. This is a very broad topic to discuss on. Let's explore why online marketing is the best "Marketing" Channel in brief.

Offline marketing Vs Online Marketing
Offline marketing Vs Online Marketing
In the 90s and before that time, people had only one major marketing channel which is offline marketing. In offline marketing, people perform different activities like Telecalling, door to door selling, etc.

After the invention of Google, online stores and other such major entities, people started using online world more. Another point to consider is, people are more busy in the life race. People are struggling to maintain work life balance. In such scenario, people get irritated and frustrated when an anonymous salesman gives a call or come to the doorstep to sell something. Today's user buy something only and only when he is looking for something and he wants to buy, not because a salesperson wants to sell. Simply ask yourself, how many sales call had you attended in the past month and bought something?

Today's marketing fundamentals are changed and more focused. An effective marketing helps people to buy what they want to and delight them during their buyer's journey instead of irritating them with old fashioned marketing activities.

Today's Marketing Mantra is "Reach Right People, At Right time, At Right Place"

Another major benefit of online marketing is that it's measurable. There are so many advanced tools which helps a marketer to measure the success and failure of different marketing campaigns. The marketers can run AB testing and select what is best for their business. It might not be possible with this much accuracy in offline marketing. This aspect of inbound marketing makes it better than the offline marketing.

A few people argue that inbound marketing is too slow. I must say they are unaware of different channels like PPC, Affiliate marketing, et cetera which gives an instant result. Even if SEO is a bit slow, but it gives long lasting results and there are so many benefits of it which shouldn't get ignored.

Last and the most important thing is that calling the prospect and having personal meeting is still important. In this digital world, people still cherish emotions and personal touch. So as a marketer, you must be in touch via phone, email or personal meeting with your existing clients and prospects. You can't ignore the power of it!

Conclusion
Even if people making statements like they close deals of $$$ just by calling or having meeting or using some other offline tactics. The experience of the industry experts and evangelist as well as the concrete stats indicate that online marketing is the most effective marketing channel now-a-days because of its nature of helping a prospect instead of interrupting or irritating them and providing measures of success and failure.

The words of wisdom are "Stop interrupting & irritating people to sale your product; Reach right people at the right time and help them to buy the Best Product".

Bing Algo Update: URL SPAM Keyword Stuffing

People are more likely to keep their eyes and ears open for the algorithm updates of Google. They usually overlook the changes in other search engines. Bing has announced one of the changes which has affected considerable search queries and URLs. Let's explore it in a bit detail

Bing Algorithm Update: URL SPAM
Bing Algorithm Update: URL SPAM

On Bing Blog, Igor Rondel, the Principal Development Manager, Bing Index Quality posted a few days ago regarding the launch of a search engine algorithm update. According to that Bing has changed its algorithm to target the URLs which are stuffed with the keywords. It is somewhat similar to Google's Exact Match Keyword and Payday loan algo updates.

According to Igor, it has been launched before a few months. It has affected 3% of overall search queries. To make the update transparent, Igor also documented the types of URL on the blog which counted as spammy and got hit by this algo. The types of domains are:
  • Keyword rich hostname with multiple hosts
    Example:
    free.online.moviesticketsforsale.com
  • Domain name with repeated keywords
    Example:
     home-decore-homedecoreforsale.com
  • URL with Keyword Permutation
    Example:
     homeloan.paydayloan.com
                     houseloan.paydayloan.com
                     cheaploans.paydayloan.com
  • URL Squatting Here people try to take advantage of human tendency of misspell.
    Example:  calculatar.com [misspelling of calculator.com]

The bing algorithm update has hurt the websites with any of the above kind of keyword spam. Bing is now more committed towards the quality of search result and this algo update is one of the proofs.

To get more such insight and news, stay tuned with me.

How Local Traffic Affect Search Engine Results?

Many people might not be aware that local traffic can influence the Google rankings. How? Let's explore.

Nowadays, search engines, specifically Google started understanding the search patterns of the users. They show results according to the search pattern of a particular person or device. For example, If you are regular searcher of jewellery, then when you search for Ruby, it will show you the result of ruby gems instead of the ruby on rails - programming language. You also might have noticed that when you are searching for some restaurant or coffee shop, the local results will be on the top. Another example, when you are logged into your gmail account and searching something, you will see some of the Google+ results.

How Local Traffic influence search results
How Local Traffic influence search results

Have you ever thought why this happens?

The answer is search engines are moving towards behavioural results. It means it tries to understand the pattern and searching behaviour of the person and show most relevant results to that person which can match his likes and  purchase habits. It also shows Google+ results because somebody in your circle has liked the same and as per human tendency, we usually like things which our friends & family like or recommend.

So, This is how search result gets influenced by person's searching habits. Now, the important question how does it influence the search rankings?

Well, as I mentioned Google and other search engines started moving towards the behavioral results. So if your website gets tons of local traffic or a majority of its traffic from particularly one country or region, search engines will start assuming that your services or site is more popular amongst that particular region. This will make your site perfect fit for the audience in that region and you will get higher rankings and exposure over there.

For example: If your site gets maximum traffic from India. Then the chances are high to get top rankings while someone is searching on Google.co.in or someone is searching when he is logged in his gmail account where he has mentioned his country as India.

So this is how your local traffic can affect your search ranking.

You may try a few searches on your own and experience how Google shows biased results as per your searching pattern.

Hope this helps. If still have any query then feel free to ask queries in the comment.

Google Authorship Dead, Author Rank Will Live Long

Google's authorship had launched on 7th June, 2011. After almost three years, Google has announced, "The End" of the Authorship. In one of the Google+ post by John Muller, Google Webmaster Trends Analyst mentioned that Google's authorship was just a test. How? Why? Let's explore.

As we all know that Google continuously tries to provide the best user experience. For this purpose, it usually keeps making changes to its algorithm. With the same agenda, Google had launched the authorship markup. The core goal of Google was to provide more detailed and useful information passing to the users. Unfortunately, during the test of three long years, Google found that "Authorship" is not much useful. Thus, they announced the closure of this markup tag. The most important thing to note is that people don't need to remove this markup tag as it won't harm your website. Google will simply ignore the code.

Google Authorship Dead
The End of Google Authorship

What does "Google Authorship is Dead" Mean?
  • According to the announcement of John, Google will no longer using the data of the author markup at all.
  • Google will completely ignore it.
  • Google won't show any author related data in search result.
  • Google will also stop the test tool to check the authorship.
Is all the hard work made by Bloggers, Webmasters wasted?
If you are thinking that your hard work is gone, then I would like to shed a light of positivity :). Though Google won't use "Authorship", it is still using the "Author Rank" and will use it in future as well. So if you are a good writer or blogger then, you may still get the benefits of "AuthorRank".

What is Author Rank?
If you are not aware with the concept of the author-rank then brief is here. Google gives higher rankings to the articles written by the authors who are deemed authenticated. It means though your name, image or byline won't be available in search results, your articles will rank higher. So keep on writing good stuff and be an authenticated writer.

Hope this article helps. Leave your concerns, feedbacks in the comment section.
