SMO News: LinkedIn Removed Product Page: Learn How To Deal With it?

LinkedIn Tips
The Major Social Media sites are subject to change. We all have witnessed many changes in Facebook designs and functionality. We have been passed through the process of dofollow links and design changes in Google Plus. Recently, twitter has also changed its looks. Now, the timeline, fonts and everything is much bigger than before. The LinkedIn, one of the major social media websites for business has put his feet in this changing shoe.

From 14th April, 2014, LinkedIn has removed the product & service pages from the company page. This change is going to affect many marketers. Specifically those who had invested chunk of money for maintaining those product tabs and bring it up to the level of authentication. With that tab, the marketer will also lose the written reviews & recommendation for particular product and service. Definitely a marketer may showcase it somewhere else, but its direct benefits will be lost. Many marketers are upset and furious with this news, but this is not the end of the world. Things change and so does the marketing strategies. Changes open the new doors of opportunity. You have two alternatives to deal with the removed product page tab adverse effects which are explained below:

1. Showcase Page
Showcase page is a child page of your company page. You may create a dedicated child page to showcase your product and services. What you need to do is follow the below steps:
  • Identify the Service/Product which you want to showcase.
  • In Company Page, click on the edit drop down menu & select create showcase page.
  • Follow the steps, create and share the news, discounts, reviews, etc. on that page.
What to keep in mind while creating the showcase page?
  • You must have plenty of offers, discounts, announcements, etc. to showcase on your showcase page.
  • It should not be a dead page with no updates.
  • You must update it on a regular basis to keep it alive.
2. Company Update
This is the ultimate alternative of a removed product tab and showcase page as well. If you don't get regular content to share for your showcase page and you might get it occasionally then this is the best recommended option. Use your company page itself and keep sharing quality updates, news, announcements for all your products and services. It will make your page lively and feed the curiosity and expectations of your followers.

You may choose any of the options listed above according to the scope of your product. Another SMO news is soon LinkedIn will remove the polling option in groups. It means from 15th May, 2014 the poll option from the group will be removed. We can say that the only permanent thing is the change.

Things change and so does the market so be ready for the changes with positive eyes to find new alternatives & opportunities.

SEO Tips for Optimizing Website for Bing

SEO Tips for Website Optimization for Bing
The web is flooded with articles and blog posts giving tips and tricks on how to optimize website to get higher rankings on Google. But what if you want to optimize your website for Bing? Before some time senior product manager of Bing webmaster program, "Duane Forrester" had conducted a webinar. In that webinar he described the facts bing consider for websites to get ranked on Bing. So here I have epitomized the webinar with important information.

1. Content is the King
Just like any other major search engine, Bing loves the fresh and unique content. So keep your content stand out to attract the search engine Crawlers.

2. Bounce Rate
Bing crawlers considers the bounce rate as one of the major ranking factors. The high bounce rate might indicate the low quality content or services. It also indicates the high ratio of unhappy visitors. In such case, of high bounce rate, your website might get ranked at lower position.

3. XML Sitemaps
It is strongly recommended to have an error free XML sitemap. The XML sitemap should not contain the broken or not found URLs. If the BingBot will find single Not found page during crawling process, it might drop the remaining URLs from crawling. So be careful about your sitemap and keep it error free.

4. RSS Feed
RSS Feed is one of the important factors considered by the BingBot It uses the content of RSS as the alert of content update to schedule the next crawling. So Generate error free and clean RSS.

5. Robots.txt File Configuration
Many times it has been noticed by the Bing Crawlers that people mistakenly blocked the crawlers from crawling and indexing their website. It will refrain the crawling bots from crawling the site and index it. So avoid such silly and crazy mistakes which can hurt badly.

6. Use Bing Webmasters Tool
Bing webmaster tool provides you the plethora of information about your website which will help you to take necessary actions to improve the rankings of your website. It is easy to use and completely free tool. So don't hesitate to use it.

Hope these simple but effective tips will help you to get better rankings on Bing.

SEO And Nutrition Science - An Analogy

SEO And Nutrition Science - The Analogy
You might have read a number of articles and blogs explaining what is SEO. I am going to explain the same, but in a different way. Today I will explain the SEO by using the analogy of Nutrition Science. Sounds weird? But it's really interesting. There are many similarities between SEO activities & Nutrition Food as well as a website and a human body. How? Let's Explore.

As you might be knowing that a human body needs a number of nutritions to be healthy and function properly. Proper and all nutritions will help the body to perform in a more efficient way. In a contrary, Malnutrition will lead to a weaken body which doesn't have enough strength to perform well. Now, if we look at the website then same analogy works here as well. A website needs to have proper and well paced SEO factors like quality backlinks, Good content, etc. There are more than 200 factors (nutrients) a website needs to perform well. If a website is well optimized (means have all desired nutritions) then it will perform in an expected way & serve the desired result in terms of visits, sales, etc. If a website is not properly optimized (suffering from malnutrition) it will lose in the forest of the web. It won't be able to perform well.

There are different kinds of food which are source of different nutrients and gives less or more nutritious. Each of them are equally important. A human body needs all kinds of nutrition in major or small extent. You can't ignore any one of them completely. Some food helps you to gain more nutrients and some less, but it doesn't mean that you can avoid the food with less nutrients. As sometimes it's possible that less nutrient food is helping other vitamins to perform well in the body. Strange but true! An Example is: Vitamin D is useful to gain the calcium from dairy product.

In a same way, there are many SEO activities like Directory submission, Social Bookmarking, PR Submission, etc. Some of the activities might give direct & quick benefits while another might give indirect & slow paced benefits. But each and every activity is equally important. Some SEO professionals might argue that few activities are useless, but I would just say any activity (nutrient) is directly or indirectly useful. You have to use it in proper & qualitative way. You also have to be sure about a fact that the overdose of any good is not good at all. Whether it is any nutrition rich food or SEO activity. The overdose of it will definitely harm your body or your site. Some food can harm the body and destroy the good nutrients inside the body. Same way, few SEO activities, called Black Hat SEO Activities might adversely affect your website and existing reputations, rankings and position of your website. So Be Cautious in choosing healthy food and SEO activities.

Each human body respond bit differently to the food & its nutrition. Each human body might have bit different nutritional needs. In a same way, you can't apply same SEO Formula for all the websites. Each website has its own requirements in terms of targeted market, product niche, competition, etc. So you have to carefully design the SEO Plan for it. An individual must get consultancy & a meal plan from the professional Nutrition doctor. Any tom dick & harry with little knowledge of mineral sources & food can't prescribe the effective meal plan. In a same way, You must handle your website to an experienced SEO Professional only. You shouldn't get an SEO services from any naive SEO individual or firm which might perform same massive link building activities for any site.

The last but not the least point is that both Nutrients and SEO activities take some time to reflect its benefits. You can't expect to eat healthy food today and see its results tomorrow. Similarly, SEO activities take some time to show its results. You can't expect to see top 10 rankings or inflow of visits today if you had performed SEO activities yesterday. You have to be patience to get actual results of both healthy food & Quality SEO Activities.

Hope this article made your understanding of SEO easier. You may also use this easy to explain the analogy to your clients to clear your points.
