Bounce Rate – A Considerable SEO Factor

SEO Facts related to Bounce Rate
Today I am going to discuss one of the basic factors of SEO. The "Bounce Rate".

What is Bounce Rate?
Bounce rate is a measure which shows the percentage of visitors who leave website by visiting single page. More specifically, visitor bounces back from the website from a single page and doesn't navigate through the website.

Why Does it matter to take care of bounce rate?
The bounce rate is one of the 200+ factors Google [and other search engines] consider in SERP [Search Engine Results Page]. Now, consider the scenario that your website ranks in the top result of search engine. A visitor searches for a query and visit your website. The visitor leaves your website by visiting single page, may be within a few seconds. Now, assume 95% visitors leaves your website by visiting only one page of the website. Now, think from search engine's perspective which wants to show the best match result to visitors. As your bounce rate is so high, the search engines will start assuming that your website is irrelevant to that query. As a result, search engine will start de-ranking your site/webpage for that search query.

Factors which can increase Bounce rates
  • Too many popups.
  • Irrelevant topic/title/ heading and content.
  • Irrelevant anchor text and links. For ex. giving link of cauliflower on anchor text "flower".
  • Poor/irrelevant landing page.
  • Poor design.
  • Poor menu item names.
  • Mobile unfriendly website, i.e., Unresponsive website in an era when people surf on their tabs and mobiles.
  • Developers who open website in live instead of local for minor issues [Don't do it if it isn't really required] .
  • Testing team who open website for single page testing in live [Don't do it if it isn't really required]
  • Team members like HR, BD, developer, designer, QA who opens the single page to get some information [which can be gathered from local version, database, admin and many other related sources].
  • Many More
In general, anything which is irrelevant to the user will lead user to leave your website. Bounce rate effect not only rankings, but also the conversion rate. Thus, it is advisable that you keep all the points in mind from the user's perspective when optimize your website. Try to reduce the possibilities of bounce rate and make it an engaging website for users to enjoy good rankings.

Hope this information helps! Still have confusion? Feel free to ask your questions via comments.

SEO And Nutrition Science - An Analogy

SEO And Nutrition Science - The Analogy
You might have read a number of articles and blogs explaining what is SEO. I am going to explain the same, but in a different way. Today I will explain the SEO by using the analogy of Nutrition Science. Sounds weird? But it's really interesting. There are many similarities between SEO activities & Nutrition Food as well as a website and a human body. How? Let's Explore.

As you might be knowing that a human body needs a number of nutritions to be healthy and function properly. Proper and all nutritions will help the body to perform in a more efficient way. In a contrary, Malnutrition will lead to a weaken body which doesn't have enough strength to perform well. Now, if we look at the website then same analogy works here as well. A website needs to have proper and well paced SEO factors like quality backlinks, Good content, etc. There are more than 200 factors (nutrients) a website needs to perform well. If a website is well optimized (means have all desired nutritions) then it will perform in an expected way & serve the desired result in terms of visits, sales, etc. If a website is not properly optimized (suffering from malnutrition) it will lose in the forest of the web. It won't be able to perform well.

There are different kinds of food which are source of different nutrients and gives less or more nutritious. Each of them are equally important. A human body needs all kinds of nutrition in major or small extent. You can't ignore any one of them completely. Some food helps you to gain more nutrients and some less, but it doesn't mean that you can avoid the food with less nutrients. As sometimes it's possible that less nutrient food is helping other vitamins to perform well in the body. Strange but true! An Example is: Vitamin D is useful to gain the calcium from dairy product.

In a same way, there are many SEO activities like Directory submission, Social Bookmarking, PR Submission, etc. Some of the activities might give direct & quick benefits while another might give indirect & slow paced benefits. But each and every activity is equally important. Some SEO professionals might argue that few activities are useless, but I would just say any activity (nutrient) is directly or indirectly useful. You have to use it in proper & qualitative way. You also have to be sure about a fact that the overdose of any good is not good at all. Whether it is any nutrition rich food or SEO activity. The overdose of it will definitely harm your body or your site. Some food can harm the body and destroy the good nutrients inside the body. Same way, few SEO activities, called Black Hat SEO Activities might adversely affect your website and existing reputations, rankings and position of your website. So Be Cautious in choosing healthy food and SEO activities.

Each human body respond bit differently to the food & its nutrition. Each human body might have bit different nutritional needs. In a same way, you can't apply same SEO Formula for all the websites. Each website has its own requirements in terms of targeted market, product niche, competition, etc. So you have to carefully design the SEO Plan for it. An individual must get consultancy & a meal plan from the professional Nutrition doctor. Any tom dick & harry with little knowledge of mineral sources & food can't prescribe the effective meal plan. In a same way, You must handle your website to an experienced SEO Professional only. You shouldn't get an SEO services from any naive SEO individual or firm which might perform same massive link building activities for any site.

The last but not the least point is that both Nutrients and SEO activities take some time to reflect its benefits. You can't expect to eat healthy food today and see its results tomorrow. Similarly, SEO activities take some time to show its results. You can't expect to see top 10 rankings or inflow of visits today if you had performed SEO activities yesterday. You have to be patience to get actual results of both healthy food & Quality SEO Activities.

Hope this article made your understanding of SEO easier. You may also use this easy to explain the analogy to your clients to clear your points.
